About Valley of the Silk Sky

Valley of the Silk Sky is a queer YA science fiction webcomic, written and drawn by Dylan Edwards. VotSS chronicles the adventures of a crew of queer and trans scientists as they search for new medicinals and try to avoid being eaten in the often-dangerous Pocalo Valley.

In addition to the webcomic serialization of the Valley of the Silk Sky: The Long Run graphic novel, VotSS has appeared in several anthologies, including the Beyond Anthology (Beyond Press, 2015), Fearful Hunter (Northwest Press, 2014), and Monster Journey (Pocket Bear Press, 2019).

About the Author

Dylan Edwards is the creator of Transposes (Northwest Press, 2012), a non-fiction comic about queer-identified transmasculine people that was a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award in 2013. His work has appeared in numerous anthologies, including the Lambda Literary Award-winning No Straight Lines (Fantagraphics, 2012), the Ignatz Award-winning QU33R (Northwest Press, 2013), and the Lambda Literary Award-winning Beyond Anthology (Beyond Press, 2015). Additionally, he has been published by Dark Horse Books, Oni Press, The Nib, PEN America, and others.

He is the recipient of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association’s 2016 Award for Excellence in Transgender Coverage for his comic “How I Told My Grandma I’m Transgender” (originally published by Fusion) and the 2017 Prism Award for Best Short Form Comic for “Nothing Wrong With Me” (originally published by The Nib).
